Beacon Hill Park. Whatever your taste may be, this 180 acre park has it, from cricket games to duck ponds, from open spaces to Arbutus groves, from rose gardens and putting greens to an outlook from which you can see the Straits and the Olym, its all there and only a few blocks from Scholefield House. Craigdarroch Castle, built in 1887-90 and now a National Historic Site, features an extensive collection of stained and leaded glass, magnificent woodwork, Victorian furnishings and decorative arts. It is a pleasant 15 minute walk to the Castle via Government House, the home of the Lieutant Governor, the Queen's representative in the province. LINK


The Inner Harbour and the Empress Hotel. Just four blocks from Scholefield House and you are at the edge of the Inner Harbour, a popular gathering spot. Magicians, jugglers, musicians and actors entertain crowds both day and evening, hoping that you will show your appreciation in small coins.

Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse. Fort Rodd Hill was an artillery fortress built to defend Victoria and the naval base at Esquimalt harbour, as part of the larger defence strategy of the British Empire and Canada, from 1878 to 1956. The adjacent Fisgard Lighthouse was the first lighthouse on Canada's west coast. LINK
